Best First Toys for a Mini Rex Rabbit

This is a specific conversation about Rabbit Enrichment — ask about yours and get one honest answer for your exact situation.

A 4-month-old Mini Rex — brilliant age to start building good habits with enrichment. Before I point you in a direction, is your rabbit living indoors or outdoors, and do they have free roam of a space or are they mostly in a hutch or run?
She's indoors and has a pen set up in the living room, but she comes out for a run around in the evenings. I genuinely have no idea what rabbits even like to play with.

That setup is actually really good for her. Mini Rex are curious, active little rabbits and they need things to chew, toss, and investigate — those are the three core play behaviours you're working with. The good news is you don't need a lot to start. What's she currently doing when she's out exploring — is she mostly sniffing around, or do you notice her chewing things she shouldn't?
Mostly chewing things she shouldn't, honestly. She's gone after the skirting board twice already.

Classic, and completely normal at this age — she needs something appropriate to redirect that onto. For a first toy, I'd start with a willow ball bundle. They're made from natural willow twigs woven into balls she can chew, shred, and throw around. Willow is safe for rabbits to ingest, which matters a lot, and the texture satisfies that gnawing urge properly. The ones by Niteangel on Amazon UK come in a mixed pack with different sizes and shapes, which is ideal because young rabbits often lose interest if everything looks the same. Put one in her pen and one in her free-roam area and see which she goes for first.
That sounds simple enough. Will she actually figure out what to do with it, or do I need to show her somehow?

Rabbits are naturally investigative — she'll sniff it, nudge it, and start chewing within a few minutes on her own. You don't need to teach her anything. If she ignores it at first, try rubbing a small piece of fresh herbs like parsley on it to get her interest. After a week or two once she's used to the willow, you can add a cardboard tube stuffed with hay as a second toy — that covers foraging behaviour too. But start with just the willow bundle. One thing done well is better than five things ignored.
Really helpful, thank you. I'll grab the Niteangel ones.

Your situation is probably different. Get a specific answer for yours.
